4 Easy steps to detox your body - How to start

Want to detox your body in easy steps? There is a catch with that 'easy' word. It's easy only if you make a minor adjustment to your attitude towards own health. That is, if you already haven't. More on that in a moment.

Everyday we are exposed to all kinds of toxic heavy metals, without realizing it. These metals are stored in the body, which is often a result of years of accumulation.

Eventually, one can have so much quantity of toxins in body it may lead to chronic metal poisoning, resulting in various diseases and disorders.[1]

How to detox in 4 steps

As my blog readers would know, it is important to understand your body is exposed to which toxic heavy metals most often and how you can avoid them as much as possible.

But it is an illusion to think that your exposure to heavy metals can be controlled 100%, because heavy metals are present everywhere: in the air, in the soil and in our food chain.

You will also, as you start your detox, will try to avoid heavy metals as much as possible, not entirely get rid of all metals that have accumulated in your body over the course of your life time. That means you should (and I hope you will), take these steps to cleanse and detox your body to keep it as clean and pure as possible.

Important: First two steps are attitude and lifestyle change related steps. Steps 3 and 4 are specific action steps. These are parallel steps that is, once you move to next step, you still continue with the previous step.

Detoxification in 4 Easy Steps

Detox process is not just a physical activity but it also requires your mental focus. Let me get it out there in no uncertain terms - after all the loud market noise selling outrageously expensive detox diet plans die down, you still have to come back to the core of detox process which is making a minor adjustment to your lifestyle.

That doesn't exactly mean relocating to the Himalayas for natural air, but avoiding certain unhealthy and toxic things (I tell you exactly what in this article). I understand it's not always possible to religiously stick to do's and don't, but you must watch out as much as possible. If that's too much to ask for, it would be better if you save your time and move on to next website giving a "no pain, all gains" advice.

If however, you make a minor adjustment to your attitude towards own health, these 4 steps become really easy. Want a work around this? Market won't disappoint you, go buy the most expensive detox diet plan out there, follow that without doing these 4 steps and you will have wasted your money.

Step 1. Avoid heavy metals as much as possible

Detoxing from heavy metal toxins

As I mentioned above, it's difficult to completely banish chemicals in modern times because you find them all over - in our clothing, food, furniture, air and water. Do your best to live without chemicals as much as possible by taking the following measures:

  • Eat organic. The pesticides that are sprayed on fruits and vegetables in conventional modern farming can be harmful to health. Choose organic products and organic, hormone-free meat and eggs.
  • Check that the fish you eat does not contain too much mercury or other heavy metals.
  • Choose natural fibers such as cotton and silk wears instead of polyester. If possible, choose organic clothing and use organic linens and towels.
  • Use natural soaps, shampoo, conditioner and makeup, rather than products that contain chemicals.
  • Use natural solutions such as vinegar and water to clean your home, instead of chemical cleaners.

Step 2. Avoid toxins as much as possible

Health risk from toxins

Certain type of food are difficult to digest and do your body more harm than good. Typically, those contain the toxins which our body's natural safety mechanism couldn't stop.

Once inside the body, these toxins need a "home" to stay and new fat cells are created for them to live. These are unhealthy fat and have no business existing in our body.

Eat less or none of the following toxins:

  1. Sugar

Fructose and glucose are bad for the liver, and if you eat too much of it can lead to obesity and diabetes [1]. It can be difficult to avoid sugar completely, but you can start by snacking less, no pastries or cake to eat (only on birthdays :-)), to drink juice or lemonade and not to put sugar in your coffee or tea. If you're into sweet sense, rather eat a piece of fruit instead of fruit juice.
  2. Artificial sweetener

Sugar substitutes increase just the craving for sweets, and may have the opposite effect on the body. Do not drink light-drinks and eat anything with artificial sweeteners in it.
  3. Saturated fat

Many fats are essential for your health, but saturated fat contained in fried and processed foods are toxic. Eat less fast food and pre-packaged snacks.
  4. Caffeine

There are studies that show a cup or two of coffee a day is good for you, but if you want to cleanse your body, you better leave all unnecessary substances. Coffee contains toxins so during detox process at least, it's a no-no.
  5. Alcohol

Moderate alcohol consumption is usually harmless, but if you drink too much of it, then you need to see how can you adjust that, at least during your detox process. All I can say is reduce the quantity if you really can't avoid it.

Step 3. Detoxify your body

How to detox fast

Your body itself has several natural mechanisms to remove toxic substances. Most unwanted and harmful substances are secreted by the body through the lungs, skin and digestive system.

However, heavy metals and other chemical substances are emitted mainly by the kidneys. These substances are then carried to the kidneys, where they are filtered from the blood and then be worked out of the body through urine.

This natural cleansing system works very ingenious and effective, but your body is not able to cope with the large amounts of heavy metals which we are exposed today.

That is exactly where the whole detox thing comes in the picture.

Fortunately, there are several ways in which you can help out your body.

You can have simple, cheap and natural detoxification with the aid of a number of healthy nutrients that have specific detoxifying properties.

If you love smoothies, you can grab the "Fat Loss Smoothies" ebook which my friend and author Judie has agreed to give to my blog readers for free. You can get it at top right on this page. If you are viewing this on mobile phone now, scroll to the bottom to get it.

Some of these healthy detox agents are:

  • Apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

The simplest way of detoxing is a lemon infused drink or water. Juicing or simply water infused with apple cider vinegar or lemon juice can be used as the main base. Add to that more fresh raw fruits and vegetables to it, and you have an ideal detoxification drink.
  • Coriander (cilantro)

Coriander leaves and coriander seeds are powerful natural detoxifiers. Fresh cilantro and coriander seeds are cheap and widely available. It is also used to make the most delicious dishes, fruit juices, pesto and green smoothies.
  • Parsley

This herb promotes an effective functioning of the kidneys, prevents kidney stones and kidney swelling and helps to cure urinary tract infections. Because the kidneys play such an important role in the natural cleansing of your body, parsley is an ideal food that can contribute to the natural detoxification of your body. In a later article I will elaborate on the powerful detoxifying effect of parsley.

In addition to natural detox methods, there are also other ways to cleanse your body of heavy metals, such as an enema and chelation therapy (only after medical advice) but you do not need to go too far to detox your body and these steps given here work pretty well.

Step 4. Get your body enough healthy minerals

I have previously posted an article on how human body naturally handles vitamin/mineral deficiency.

Heavy metals in our food and elsewhere are of two types: healthy and unhealthy. Healthy ones like iron of course are essential minerals.

If your body is deficient in minerals, it will always try to recoup by itself by saving alternate heavy metals. There is no problem with that. But the problem is: most heavy metals are toxic.

If you do not give your body enough healthy minerals, you are forcing it to store toxic heavy metals because it needs heavy metals (minerals) at the end of the day. It works like this: either you give your body the healthy minerals, or you force it to automatically get unhealthy, toxic metals (minerals).

Your body needs minerals. It better gets healthy ones.

A healthy diet is critical if you want to effectively detoxify the body, because with a lack of healthy minerals your body is like a magnet for heavy metals, making the effects of detoxification will be minimal.

A healthy diet consists mainly of natural, unprocessed, organic, locally grown food. Try more vegetables to eat raw, preferably a third of your daily requirement.

Also fermented products such as tempeh and sauerkraut, are rich in healthy minerals. Ensure also that you always get enough healthy fat, especially omega-3 fatty acids otherwise the body generates unhealthy fat on it's own.

Health benefits of detoxing

If you detoxify your body regularly you will soon notice that it has rejuvenating and refreshing effect on your health. Not only do you feel a lot better and your general immunity enhanced, it can also have a positive impact on your vital organs like heart and lungs.

That is because your heart and lungs are of spared heavy metals and so function more efficiently.

You are what you eat and what you store.

What can you expect after detox?

  • A clean start of your body
  • Powerful way to detoxify your body
  • More energy

  • enhanced vitality
  • Radiating and younger looking skin
  • Restoration of the self-cleaning capacity of the digestive system
