First and foremost, make sure you stay away from known toxic stuff such as coffee, alcohol, tobacco, refined sugar and saturated fats. Avoid as much as possible, I understand the limitations here. All I am asking you is to give it a serious thought.

All of these substances act as toxins in your body and are obstacles to a healthy body. Furthermore, you can also see which chemical-based cleaning and personal care products you use and is it possible to replace them with natural alternatives.

Another obstacle to good health is the old enemy called stress. Stress hormones enjoy free rein in your body when we stress. While these hormones can give us the adrenaline boost that we need for example to win an important game or a deadline to pick up our work they also create toxins.

I am not expert on stress management but I know for example meditation exercises help to bring stress level down. Yoga and Qigong meditation are good ways to train your mind and body so they react better to stressful events.

There are many different programs and recipes to detoxify your body, depending on your personal needs. Many programs are based on a 7-day treatment because the body simply needs some time to purify the blood.

One popular detox program is to be on a liquid diet for two days where you only drink stuff like detox water, herbal tea and juices. Thereafter, you take a specific detox diet for 5 days. Once that period is over, you take a long and carefully planned diet that can bring reprieve to your digestive system.

Optionally, you can supplement this with the necessary supplements, herbal remedies and exercise to improve blood circulation. There is enough info on internet on these things and I do not have anything specific to recommend.

Some health experts recommend an even more radical fixed period of three to seven days in which you drink only fresh fruit juices and water.

Other popular programs to detoxify the body

Supplement combinations of fiber, vitamins, herbs and minerals. There are some packages in the market that are safe to use (and many are not!).

A therapy in which one lives only one day a week on water, a use that one again found in many traditional or primitive cultures.

A detox exercise can help your body detoxify by maintaining certain rules in your diet and lifestyle and taking certain supplements.

  1. Eat plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organic vegetables and fruit. Beets, cabbage, chlorella, radishes, spirulina, artichokes, broccoli and seaweed are foods that help very well to cleanse your body of toxins.
  2. Clean and protect your liver by taking herbs such as dandelion root, milk thistle, and drinking green tea.
  3. Take vitamin C, this encourages the body to produce glutathione, a substance which helps in the liver to remove toxins.
  4. Drink at least half a liter of water per day.
  5. Practise a deep breath, this ensures that fresh oxygen to circulate better in your body.
  6. Reduce stress by focusing on positive emotions.
  7. Practice daily hydrotherapy by taking a very hot shower for 5 minutes, followed by 30 seconds of cold water. Do this three times a day and then you rest for 30 minutes on your bed.
  8. Try a regular sauna visit. There you sweat the waste in your body there quickly.

  10. The most important way to detoxify your body is very simple: exercise! Yoga or exercise an hour a day and you will not only improve the functioning of your body and muscles but also rid yourself of a lot of toxic substances.

Detox is not some new and fancy fad. Toxins are perils of modern times. They are clear and present threat to our health and we need to deal with that.
